Joyce Apted, PhD, CPNP, PMHS-C

Joyce Apted PhD, CPNP, PMHS-C is a long time resident of Northern Virginia.  She has dual certification as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. 

Joyce received her PhD from the University of Virginia with a research interest in parental decision making and Human Papillomavirus Vaccination.  She received her Master’s degree and completed the Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program from the University of Virginia.  Joyce received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from George Mason University. 

Joyce’s work experience includes Primary Care Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Care as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  She worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s National Medical Center, Washington D.C. in the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, as an ECMO (Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist and as a Nursing Administrator.  Joyce taught as Adjunct Faculty in the Nursing Department at George Mason University.

Joyce enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time with her dogs and her equestrian daughter.
