All of their services are uniquely tailored for each family. They offer an established lactation support program for families who need further guidance and consultation, to ensure a successful breastfeeding experience. Most babies are born knowing how to suck, but not always knowing how to suck properly at the breast, and many new parents are not quite sure how to go about helping the baby learn. All parents appreciate some help and encouragement at the beginning to develop a successful nursing relationship.
Many families who make appointments are clearly in distress; the lactation consultants feel a responsibility to both parent and baby, to help them establish an easier breastfeeding relationship. Over the course of their careers, they have discovered and learned how to approach these problems. The Lactation Consultants often take a team approach to families, in order to give them follow-up support after their visits with them; this follow-up is clearly what sets Metropolitan Breastfeeding Consultants apart.
