Be Prepared for Camp

Schedule your child's camp physical

It's that time of year again....time to sign your child up for summer camps. Many summer camps for children and teen require a physical examination and health forms to be completed before participating in activities.

Camp physicals are completed by your child's doctor to determine whether your child:
  • can participate in an activity without limitation
  • can participate but should have certain restrictions due to an existing health condition
  • should not participate

While a camp physical can be done during your child's yearly checkup, it is not the same as a regular checkup, physical, or well-child exam. During the camp physical the provider looks for any diseases or injuries that could make it unsafe to participate.

Schedule now for best availability

Schedule a camp physical with your child's provider by submitting an appointment request through your child's patient portal account or calling your child's home office.

What to expect during the physical exam

A camp physical is a good time to review all areas of your child's health. The physical exam will evaluate the following:

  • A through history to look for any medical issues with life threatening risks associated with participation.
  • Id any medical conditions that might need a treatment plan before or during participation, such as asthma.
  • Assess and review prior injuries for adequate healing and function, or the need for further rehabilitation.
  • Review the risk for any future injury and safety equipment participation in any camp activities may require. such as helmets, life jackets, etc.
  • Review your child's immunization (shot) record and provide recommendations for any needed immunizations.
Please come to the appointment prepared with your child's camp health form. It can be helpful to bring a list of prior injuries or treatments, as well as review any family history of cardiac disease. As with any visit, please raise concerns or questions you might have about mental health or safety.

Holiday Hours

In honor of Independence Day, all of our offices will be CLOSED on Tuesday July 4, 2017.

When our offices are closed, our PEDIATRIC TRIAGE NURSE SERVICE, staffed by licensed nurses who are trained in pediatrics and supported by our on-call doctor, are available to answer any urgent medical questions that cannot wait until our offices open again.  Simply call your child's "Home Office" and you will be connected with a Pediatric Triage Nurse.

If you are having an emergency, please immediately call 911.

Sports Physicals

There are many places your child can receive a sports physical - quick care clinics, general practitioners and even while at school. However, none of these places offer sports physicals from the board-certified pediatricians & Nurse Practitioners you know and trust.

To better serve our patients, TPG is now offering sports physicals for just $59 or less. And depending on your particular insurance and eligibility, you may not be charged for your visit and the most you would be charged is $59.

The sports physicals will cover heart health, musculoskeletal history and a neurological exam. By conducting this exam within your TPG office, all of your child's records will be readily available and our staff will be fully aware of your child's history.
